Our mission is to bring Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning youth and their friends together to build a peer based community that empowers them to end isolation, create a progressive youth voice; increase well being and self-esteem; and change the communities in which they live. Openarms Youth Project accomplishes this by offering peer based education, advocacy, recreation, information and leadership opportunities.
The Openarms Youth Project, Corp. is a non-profit corporation and shall be operated exclusively for research, eductional, and charitable purposes within the meaning on Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, or the corresponding section of any future Federal Tax Code.
The Openarms Youth Project ’ s purpose is to offer programs for and driven by Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (GLBTQ) youth through multiple processes that serve to facilitate personal growth and empowerment.
We implement policies, programs, and services, through education and advocacy that support a healthy environment for GLBTQ youth throughout metropolitan Tulsa, particularly in school, public health, and social service settings.
We relate to GLBTQ youth in the context of their family and other primary support systems to serve their overall health, wellbeing and safety.
Our operations encourage responsible citizenship of youth by providing opportunities to contribute to local community.
We offer a dynamic youth community center that actively supports educational, recreational, vocational, and empowers overall personal growth to GLBTQ youth.
Our programs directly provide facilities for youth to engage in their personal growth through improving GLBTQ health with education and mentoring.
